What is kelp and why is it good for your skin?
I often get asked the question, "What is Kelp and why do you use kelp in your skincare regime"?
Kelp is a large leafy-like algae this is found in salt water. It can appear as green, brown, or red depending on the depths and temperature of the water in which they live. Kelp is part of the ocean's natural powerhouse of health boosters.
Kelp is a super food and a powerful ingredient in skincare. It is high in antioxidants, including carotenoids and flavonoids, which help fight against disease-causing free radicals.
Antioxidant minerals, such as manganese and zinc, help combat oxidative stress and may help protect cardiovascular health and prevent cancer. Kelp benefits for skin can be seen quickly because it can be used on the inside and out to help improve skin health by nourishing and hydrating at the same time.
Where does VinoSpa Kelp come from?
Not all kelp is created equal.
At VinoSpa we seek out the best, as we do with all of the ingredients in our skincare. The Kelp you will find in VinoSpa products is sourced locally off of British Columbia, Canada in the Pacific Ocean, and is harvested ethically and sustainably. British Columbia has the perfect environment for growing Kelp. The rugged, untamed West coast waterways of Vancouver Island, Canada promote this magical plant and it grows in abundance making it a great sustainable choice. Choosing locally limits our footprint.
What will Kelp do for your skin?
Firm skin. Kelp, when applied to the skin, strengthens to make it more resilient against environmental damage.
Nourish skin. Kelp contains high amounts of Vitamin A, B and C and E to nourish the skin. The essential fatty acids and Vitamin A help to tighten and smooth skin leaving it smooth and supple.
Detox skin. Kelp is very rich in chlorophyll which is known to detoxify the skin.
Improves circulation. Kelp brightens and improves complexions, evening out colour tone and promoting healing.
How to use Kelp in your skincare regime:
Noble Spa - Ensure you draw your bath and let the kelp and other ingredients soak for at least 5 minutes. When you slip into the tub, you will notice a markable difference in how soft your water is, giving indication as to how soft your skin will feel. You can also soak Noble Spa in a bowl and do a Noble Spa facial for direct healing to your facial skin.
Masque - VinoSpa offers Facial Masque and Body Masque with a large portion of the ingredients being kelp. Masque once a week or as directed by Gayle, our consultant, or our specific skin type directions.
